School election filing closes

The filing deadline for local school board elections closed last week. Candidates had until 5 p.m. Thursday to file for positions in Dixon, Hot Springs, Noxon, Plains, Thompson Falls and Trout Creek school districts.

In Dixon School District, three candidates have filed for two open three-year positions. Dixon candidates include Marsha Hettick, Kadilyn Roragen and Janita Vonheeder.

Hot Springs schools has one three-year position up for election this May, with Jennifer Christensen and Julie White filing.

Noxon School District has four positions on the ballot. Three candidates, including Jason Colyer, Natalie Erwin and David Smith, filed for the two open positions on the school board representing the Trout Creek Elementary and Noxon High School portion of the district. There also are two positions up for election representing the Noxon elementary and Noxon High School portion of the district. Vying for those positions are James Christensen, Jen Fratzke, Rachel Peterson, Nick Posselt and Tamra Weltz.


Voters in the Plains School District will elect one school board member in May. Beau French, Mary Baker Halling and Brian Meaden have filed for that three-year position.

In Thompson Falls, Michael Beckman, Ramona Jacobson and Lisa Ruen are the three candidates running for the one open position. In the Trout Creek School District, five candidates will be on the ballot for the three open positions. Michael Linderman and Leslie Roberts have filed for the one-year position, Alicia Myers and Scott Rasor have filed for the two-year position, and Carolyn Nesbitt is the only candidate for the three-year position.


Ballots for school board elections will be mailed April 13. The Ledger will run profiles of the school board candidates in the April 7 and 14 editions. Election Day for school board and special district elections is May 3, with ballots needing to be received by the Sanders County Election Office by mail or in person by 8 p.m. that day.
