Not guilty pleas entered

Appearing for his arraignment before Judge Karen Townsend on Tuesday, Steven Grimm pled not guilty in 20th District Judicial Court to three counts of assault with a weapon, one count of attempted burglary, and one count of partner or family member assault.

According to the charging documents filed, officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival at the location, Grimm was attempting to leave the scene, leading officers to block him in with their patrol vehicles. Grimm was allegedly angry and shouting profanities.

An officer interviewed Grimm’s estranged wife, who informed them that she had been outside with her children and a friend when Grimm arrived. She stated that Grimm became instantly angry, shouting profanities and threats toward his estranged wife. At one point, she observed Grimm swinging an item around, which was later identified as an ax handle. Grimm allegedly threw the ax handle up onto the roof of the home once he was aware law enforcement was enroute. Per the charging documents, Grimm continued yelling profanities and threats directed at his wife as officers spoke to him. A jury trial has been set for September 6, 2022.
