Business is booming at the Thompson Falls City Pool as people of all ages participate in fun, educational and healthy programs. The public pool is managed by Sandra Kazmierczak, the City of Thompson Falls Recreational Director, and her team of young adult lifeguards, along with assistance from Public Works Director Neil Harnett. Despite having so much cool weather early in the summer it looks as though the team is still managing to make positive waves in the community.

"Our season started off slowly because of the cooler weather we have had but the kids are still coming out to swim even when it's cold," commented Kazmierczak. "So far our season has been very successful and all of the kids and lifeguards are having a good time being here."

One of the more popular classes offered at the pool are the Aquatic Aerobics classes held twice a day Monday through Friday. The morning class is 8:30-9:30 a.m. and the midday class is 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m."We have two classes available for aquatic aerobics. They have been very successful. For example we had 15 participants this morning and we generally have 12-13 participants in the afternoon class. The aquatic aerobics are open to all adults so please come join us," said Kazmierczak.

Kazmierczak and her team also offer swimming lessons, the teaching of which is very popular amongst the lifeguards themselves. "I like teaching swimming lessons and watching the kids go from tiny tots all the way up and through level three. It's fantastic to see how much each kid has improved. I helped teach lessons last year and two girls that I taught last year are back this year. They have improved a lot and I'm very proud of them," said lifeguard Shayla Micklon. "I was given swimming lessons here when I was kid as well. I really enjoy seeing the kids having so much fun while they are learning."

The Thompson Falls City Pool is open for the summer and offers a wide variety of activities to the community. For more information go to cityofthompsonfalls.com/city-pool.
