Avista’s 12th annual Charity Golf Scramble will tee off Saturday, August 20, at 9 a.m. at River’s Bend Golf Course in Thompson Falls. Each year, Avista chooses a local organization to be the recipient of the yearly fundraiser. This year’s event will benefit Sanders County 4-H.
“We are very humbled and appreciative of the opportunity to be a recipient and will use the funds wisely to promote youth education,” said Juli Thurston with Sanders County 4-H.
The 4-H program is the largest out-of-school youth development program in the state. Through Sanders County 4-H, nearly 130 youths have the opportunity to gain life skills such as public speaking through demonstrations and presentations in various projects in the science, technology, health and communications arts fields. Members of the 4-H program benefit by receiving supporting funds for camps, 4-H Congress, national trips, project materials and a wide variety of learning and leadership experiences.
Silent auction items will be on display until bidding closes at 2 p.m. on Saturday. To bid or purchase raffle tickets, Avista invites the public and non-golfers to stop by the event. The public can also call in to bid on silent auction items as well.
Silent auction items include a night at Huntley Lodge and day skiing for two, four adult 90-minute daily cruise tickets with Lake Coeur d’Alene Cruises, seven nights at Pend Oreille Shores Resorts, a log truck full of firewood, gift baskets and other various gift certificates.
