The Thompson Falls Blue Hawks traveled to Plains to take on the Trotters on Thursday. The Hawks won in three straight sets, 25-7, 25-14, 25-17, but the Trotters put on a valiant effort in front of their energetic home crowd.

As the first set started, the Hawks took a significant lead with senior Natalie Roberts serving up several points and the Hawks taking an early 12-2 lead. Plains made a run and kicked their defensive efforts into gear as they made a comeback, but the Hawks kept their dominance and were up 1-0 as the second set started.

In the second set, the Hawks again took an early lead, serving up four points right off the bat. Plains worked together on the next point and scrambled to get the ball over the net for a sideout to show the Hawks they weren't giving up. The Trotters were within eight points much of the second half of the set before Thompson Falls sealed their second straight set.

In the third set, the Trotters' energy changed and they were determined to keep up with the Hawks. Plains got the first points of the set and were up 12-4 before the Blue Hawks made their comeback. The teams were tied at 13 apiece when the Hawks took the lead. The Trotters weren't giving up as the teams engaged in some intense volleys before Thompson Falls edged ahead and beat the Trotters.

In their other matchups last week, Plains hosted Deer Lodge on Friday, while Thompson Falls hosted Eureka on Saturday. Thompson Falls made quick work of Eureka, winning in three straight sets, 25-21, 25-23, 25-16. Gabby Hannum served up five of the team's 13 aces and contributed two blocks, Ellie Baxter had 13 set assists and three blocks, Avery Burgess 11 kills and Cheyla Irvine nine digs.

Plains and Thompson Falls were set to battle once more Tuesday in Thompson Falls. Results of that match were not available at press time.

NOXON

The Red Devils traveled to Troy last Tuesday and went five sets with the Trojans. Troy won the first two sets 25-22, 25-18 before Noxon came back and won two in a row, 25-21, 26-4. The Trojans took the final set 15-10.

On Saturday, Noxon played host to the St. Regis Tigers at home. Results of that match were not available.

HOT SPRINGS

The Savage Heat volleyball team was on the road last week, traveling to Two Eagle River on Thursday and Charlo on Saturday. The Savage Heat made quick work of their road trip to Two Eagle River, beating them in three straight sets, 25-11, 25-1, 25-6.

Lauren Aldridge served an impressive 14 aces and smashed seven kills against Two Eagle River, while Brooke Jackson served up another 10 aces. Erica Cannon added three aces, one kill and one block, Lily DeTienne three kills, and Josie Uski had eight aces, two kills, three set assists and one dig.

The Savage Heat were looking for redemption against Charlo, who earlier this season won in three sets in Hot Springs. The Vikings again overtook the Savage Heat in three sets on Saturday, 25-23, 25-24 and 25-8. Aldridge had five kills and five blocks against Charlo, Jackson had six set assists and Kara Christenseen, DeTienne and Josie Uski added four digs apiece while Georgia Uski served up two aces.

This week, the Savage Heat were set to travel to Superior on Tuesday and will host Alberton Thursday night when Hot Springs honors its senior volleyball players.
