Thompson Falls High School welcomed new members to its National Honor Society chapter last week.

The high standards of scholarship, leadership, serviceship, and character are celebrated each year during the National Honor Society (NHS) induction ceremony. Students, staff, family and friends were gathered together in the Thompson Falls High School gymnasium Tuesday, November 22, to watch the event. To be inducted into the NHS, students must first be selected and must have and maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA.

The current members of the NHS are seniors Elizabeth Baxter, Bethany Burk, Marcella Hodges-VanHuss, Cheyla Irvine, Chesney Lowe, Alivia McCormick, Levi Myers,

Briar Palmer, Natalie Roberts, and Colton Wormwood, and juniors Kael Brown, Makayla Davis, Connor Day, Braxton Dorscher, Justin Haagenson, Olivia Harnett, Blakely Lakko, Hattie Neesvig, Theo Nygaard and Mackenzie Robinson. The 2022-2023 inductees are sophomores Gabriella Adair, Isabella Buchanan, Samuel Burgess, Braedon Ferris, Mace Jacobson, Sarah Koskela, Tegan Saner, and Christopher Schwab as well as juniors Carter Marquardt and Cael Thilmony.

The ceremony started off with the playing of the national anthem by the high school band, led by band teacher Brittany Nichols. After the national anthem, elementary school secretary Diane Hedahl was asked to speak. In Hedahl's speech, she happily praised those in NHS and those being inducted. Before the inductees said their pledge of allegiance, Colton Wormwood spoke on scholarship, Levi Myers spoke on service, Chesney Lowe spoke on leadership, and Cheyla Irvine spoke on character. The membership pledge was led then by Natalie Roberts.
