Thompson Falls/Noxon wrestlers hit the pavement last weekend to compete in the Choteau Classic. The boys team placed 11th out of 26 teams and the girls placed 14th out of 18 teams. “Overall I thought our team wrestled hard and most went deep into consolation rounds,” said Coach Michael Thilmony.

Eli Ratliff won the tournament, beating Percy Bechtold from Choteau in the finals. “Eli had a great tournament and continues to get better each week,” said Thilmony.

Max Hannum placed second in the 170-pound weight class, losing to Miles Hoerauf from Whitehall in the finals. Hoerauf is ranked second in the state. “I thought Max wrestled hard, but we will continue to work on things as I believe we can win this match-up,” said Thilmony.

Noa Stevens wrestled in the 152-weight class. “Noa had a very good tournament and fell just one match away from reaching the podium. He continues to get better each week and I look forward to seeing if he can place this weekend at the Ted Kato tournament,” Thilmony said.

Veronica Bewick placed third, winning over Mica Juedeman of Fort Benton, in the 235-pound weight class. Both Jaden Bewick and Desani Bewick wrestled in the 107-pound class, wrestling each other in the round two championship, with Jaden Bewick prevailing.

Thompson Falls is hosting a mixer this Friday starting at 6 p.m. The teams joining to wrestle are: Priest River, Idaho, Fort Benton, Cascade, Fairfield and Valier. On Saturday, Thompson Falls is hosting the annual Ted Kato Tournament. There will be 17 teams and wrestling will start at 9 am.
