Red Devils split with Clark Fork

The Noxon boys got a 53-44 win last Tuesday at home against rival Clark Fork, Idaho. The Red Devil girls lost in a close 50-41 game against the Wampus Cats.

The boys started the first quarter off with 13 points and amped out in the fourth with 22 points. Brian Risch was the high scorer with 13, Ricky Williams shot 12 and both Justice Kayser and Shane Murray launched 11 each. Sam Christensen banked four and Aiden Curry two points. The team made 53% of their free throws.

The Noxon girls started out straggling in the first quarter with five points to Clark Fork’s 23. Then they turbo-charged it to outscore the Wampus Cats in the rest of the game with Emily Brown taking charge of the court. It wasn’t enough for the win but what a force to be reckoned with. Brown scored a hefty 30 points, Aubrey Erwin banked four, Seanna Richter made three, and Maygan Swanson and Elloria Jensen both swished in two points.

Charlo swooped in Friday night to scoop up the victories. The Red Devil boys lost 67-27 against the Vikings. The team hooped both ends of the game but couldn't get past Charlos’ defense to pass many baskets through in the second and third quarters. Noxon did however have an impressive 64% of their free-throws.

The Lady Red Devils had 10to the Vikings 14 points in the first quarter then sank behind in the second quarter, maintained in the third and fell 59-33 for the game. Brown was the top scorer with 24 points.

The Noxon boys could taste victory in Saturday's game in Superior against the Bobcats but just couldn't quite chomp it, losing 49-46. They were trailing by 17 points in the first half before kicking it into gear for the second half of the game. Coach Mike Benson said that it was a good second half but they couldn’t catch up.

Christensen hooped 13 points, Murray 11, Williams seven and scoring six points each were Ian Brown and Kayser. Curry racked up three points. From the free-throw line the team shot 67%.

The Noxon girls lost 61-28 to Superior. The Bobcats started out like a boomerang that didn’t come back until the final quarter. Superior led by 21 points in the first quarter but scored only five to Noxon’s seven in the final fourth.
