The Mack Days 2023 Spring total is at 23,517 entries turned in. The sixth weekend was the most successful so far in this event. It was good fishing weather for most of the weekend. Fridays catch came to 1,640, Saturdays entries were 1,486, and Sundays entries were 1,388 for a weekend total of 4,514 fish entries.
Mack Days Fishing Events are sponsored by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and sanctioned by Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks and are used as a management tool to reduce non-native lake trout in Flathead Lake.The event runs through May 13.
David Kelch of Great Falls turned in two $100 tagged lake trout over the sixth weekend and David McDaniel of Polson turned in his third $100 tagged fish of the event.
The second Bucket Day was Saturday with Rick Skates of Big Arm winning with a three fish bucket at 21.7 lbs., 2nd with the four fish limit was David McDaniel-21.5, 3rd Cole Williams of Kalispell-21.3, 4 th Mike Colyer’s of Missoula-17.6, and 5th Nate Dieterich of Kalispell with 14.75.
Kolton Turner of Kalispell leads with a total of 1,592 lake trout entries. Robert Turner of Kalispell is second with 1,285, Jason Mahlen of Kalspell third with 1,123, fourth is Jerry Benson of Plains and Mike Benson of Lonepine is fifth.
Leah Banyai of Lakeside is leading in the ladies category with 253, the age 13-17 anglers are led by Brodie Smith of Kalispell and the 12 and under leader is Wyatt Best of Florence with 14.
