After winning their play-in game with flying colors last Tuesday against the Loyola Breakers 13-3, the Plains Trotters earned their spot at divisionals. The Western B-C Divisional Softball Tournament took place last weekend in Anaconda.

First up to bat on Thursday against the Trotters was the Florence-Carlton Falcons. The score was tied 4-4 at the top of the third and fourth innings. The Trotters then gained the lead by one point at the top of the fifth. But the sixth inning turned out to be the game changer, with the Falcons gaining seven runs and thus snatching the game for a 13-5 win. "We could have beaten Florence if we kept our level of play up," said Coach Kati Mitchell.

Belting out doubles in the game were Maddy Blood, Marissa Young and Jaelyn Carr. Base steals were made by: Aubree Butcher, Carlie Wagoner and Teirainy Bellinger. Batting RBIs were Carr, Young and Blood. Piper Bergstrom pitched five innings, striking out one player. The Trotters racked up 11 hits to the Falcons' 18 hits.

On Friday the Trotters lost to the Ennis Mustangs 23-11. The Mustangs were up 16-0 at the top of the second inning. The Trotters were able to gain some ground in the fifth inning, scoring eight runs.

Blood cracked a triple and Butcher, Wagoner and Young all smacked doubles in the game. The team had a 50% batting average, with 13 hits. Stealing bases were: Butcher, Wagoner, Young, Crabb, O'Keefe and Carr. Eight RBI's were made by Wagoner, Blood, O'Keefe and Butcher. Blood pitched one inning, striking out two players and Wagoner struck-out one.

Mitchell said that the girls are really happy with the season because they know how far they have come since the first day of practice until now. "For me, this was a great season, we have a fairly young team with some that have had no experience, but I am so proud of these girls and how hard they fought to get to divisionals," said Mitchell.
