Thompson Falls library receives grant

The Thompson Falls Public Library was recently selected by the John Henry Elred Jr. Foundation & Dorothy Louise Kyler Fund for $5,000 in grant funding to increase items in the children’s and junior sections of the library.

Funding will be used to purchase new junior non-fiction books, junior classic books, junior fiction books, easy beginning chapter books and easy non-fiction books.

Additional items for purchase will include Junior age level “Wonder Books” and “Play-Away” audio books and new STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) educational kits for ages spanning preschool to 16+ years.

The Thompson Falls Public Library will plan on hosting two library open houses this year to introduce patrons to the new items.

Thompson Falls Public Library is incredibly honored and grateful for this wonderful opportunity to expand our collection for patrons and families, thanks to this generous gift.

The Dorothy Louise Kyler Fund was created to help grow children’s circulation in rural libraries across the United States. Since 2012 they have given $750,600 to 210 libraries in 22 different states.
