TRAE IN CHARGE - Hawk freshman Trae Thilmony, pictured wrestling Peter Carey of Plains-Hot Springs in Hot Springs several weeks ago, won fourth place in the CMR Christmas Classic in Great Falls Saturday.

It is time to reevaluate and move on.

"We are pretty much at the halfway point of the season right now," Thompson Falls wrestling coach Ian Taylor said. "We need each kid to reevaluate where we are right now in relation to where we want to be.

"Then we can take stock of what we need to do to reach our goals," he added, "because the reality of it is, is that there is not much of the season left once we get past the holidays."

The Blue Hawks made one of their bigger annual trips of the season last week when they trekked to Great Falls to compete in the prestigious CMR Christmas Classic, one of the biggest and best prep wrestling tourneys in Montana during any regular season.

Schools of all sizes from all over Montana generally compete in the Classic, and placing in this meet is a high honor indeed.

Continuing his outstanding freshman season, Trae Thilmony wrestled his way to a fourth place finish at 113 pounds against an ultra-tough field of wrestlers.

"That is the highest place finish we have had in this tournament in the last five years, Trae wrestled really well," Taylor said. "Our other kids did pretty well, too. Seth (Alarcon) got two wins, Shane (Reishus) went 1-2, it was good to expose these guys to some really good competition like we had in Great Falls."

In other mat action last week, the Hawks wrestled in a mixer with Mission-Charlo in Mission Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Thilmony won a pair of matches at 120 pounds, Dakota Irvine went 1-1 with a 10-6 decision win over Mission-Charlo rival Miles Anderson at 205 pounds and Dane Chojnacky went 1-2 with a pin win over Ethan Davis of Mission-Charlo in 1:56 of mat time.

The Hawks were to have joined Clark Fork and Arlee for a quadrangular mixer match at Florence Tuesday but results of that meet were not available at press time. The Hawks will return to Mission, to wrestle in the Mission Mountain Classic Saturday.
