NEW HOME -The local Fish, Wildlife and Parks office has moved east of Thompson Falls. The new office is open while renovations to the building continue.

If you are looking for Montana Fish, Wildlife and Park's (FWP) office, you will have to head east of Thompson Falls, where they have recently relocated to a new building owned by Avista. The end of January, biologists packed up their items from the Forest Service building they were in and made the move to 5427 Highway 200.

"We had been leasing the old place from the Forest Service," stated Ryan Kreiner, FWP fisheries biologist. "The Forest Service was interested in getting rid of the property and it was offered to us, but there were asbestos and paint problems" that needed to be dealt with Kreiner continued. In addition, the Forest Service property did not have storage for FWP to house their boats and equipment in and was receiving exposure to the elements, theft and vandalism.

Through the Clark Fork Settlement Agreement (CFSA), Avista purchased the newly acquired property with acknowledgement that a new facility was necessary to carry out collaborative obligations with FWP. The equipment serves dual purposes in completing both FWP and CFSA agendas. Similarly, FWP employees supply manpower and time needed for CFSA program implementation along with Avista.

In addition to a new building, FWP employees also received new phone numbers. According to Kreiner, they now have "voice internet phones," requiring them to change their numbers from the 827 prefix to 382. The following numbers are the new contact numbers for FWP employees: Bruce Sterling, 382-3031; Ryan Kreiner, 382-3032; Jason Blakney, 382-3033 and Marc Terrazas, 382-3034.
