ALL-STAR SINGERS from Noxon and Plains schools performed at the University of Montana earlier this month.

Students from Noxon and Plains performed earlier this month at the 2020 All-Star Honor Choir concert hosted by the University of Montana. For the event, students must first be nominated by their directors as top students of their program and then are chosen to be selected by University staff.

Students rehearsed throughout the weekend with Director of Choral Activities Professor Dr. Coreen Duffy and guest director Jo-Michael Schiebe, chairman of the Department of Choral and Sacred Music at the USC Thorton School of Music. He has served as National President of American Choral Directors Association, Western Division President, and National Repertoire and Standards Chairperson for Community Colleges. He has collaborated with Luciano Pavarotti, Jose Carrerras, the Rolling Stones, Elton John and has prepared choruses for Helmuth Rilling, Colin Davis and the London Symphony Orchestra.

Noxon seniors Frida Rivera, Brittany Hagen, Chloe Scarlett and Aaron Raynor, along with Plains students Adam Agulera, Grace Cockrell, Adelle Ercanbrack, and Tianna McGonagle were selected to represent Sanders County. They met university professors, toured campus, explored degree options, attended the department showcase Fusion concert, had the opportunity to audition for scholarships and had many hours of rehearsal. This all led to the closing concert on Sunday afternoon where students performed a variety of songs.
