Noxon students head to state BPA competition

NOXON BPA coach Dana Grupenhoff proudly announces that her entire eight-man team has qualified for state competition in Billings this March. Every member placed in one or more of their Business Professionals of America categories allowing them to compete at the state level. Business students at Noxon High School have once again successfully shown their skills at the Region 1 Business Partners of America (BPA) competition held in Kalispell recently. Students were clear in their intent to showcase their sharpened business-related skills required for potential careers in the field.
Teacher Dana Grupenhoff has a continued tradition in coaching top-notch BPA student performances. This year, she's batting 1,000. Of the eight students who competed at the regional level, "I have all eight kids advancing to the State Leadership Competition in Billings in March," Grupenhoff commented. Considering the team is comprised of seven sophomores and one junior, she has plenty to look forward to next year as well.
Students who placed at the regional level move on to the state competition. The following Noxon students placed and will move on to compete in the respected categories.
Jared Webley, the sole junior, took fourth and fifth place in Integrated Office Applications and Intermediate Word Processing respectively.
Andy Koonce took first place honors in PC Servicing & Troubleshooting and Digital Communication Concepts. He earned second place in Administration Support Concepts, Information Technology Concepts and Fundamental Word Processing. Fourth place was achieved in Business Meeting Management Concepts and Koonce finished in fifth place with Computer Program Concepts and Digital Marketing Concepts. Lastly, a sixth-place finish was earned in Fundamental Desktop Publishing.
Nathan Cano placed first in Fundamental Spreadsheet Applications, Network Administration Using Cisco, and Information Technology Concepts. He placed third in PC Servicing & Troubleshooting and Digital Communications Concepts.
Vanessa Horner took top, first-place honors with Graphic Design and second place in Business Meeting Management Concepts. She also placed third in Digital Marketing Concepts, fifth in Fundamental Desktop Publishing and sixth in Digital Communications Concepts & Management, Intermediate Word Processing, and Marketing & Human Resources Concepts.
Laurel Miller placed well by taking second place in Integrated Office Applications, third in Information Technology Concepts and sixth in Digital Marketing Concepts.
Jaedyn Murray placed fourth and fifth in Digital Marketing Concepts and Digital Communication Concepts respectively.
Cade VanVleet took top honors in Integrated Office Applications and fourth in Basic Office Systems and Procedures.
Gabriella Stough will also join the Noxon BPA team as she placed fourth in Legal Office Procedures.
According to Business Professionals of America, their mission is to "develop and empower student leaders to discover their passion and change the world by creating unmatched opportunities in learning, professional growth and service." Grupenhoff is fostering this mission in the Noxon School District as she continues to nurture students interested in the world of business.
