STRONG-ARM TACTICS like this helped Thompson Falls senior Dane Chojnacky eventually win this match with Plains-Hot Springs' Jesse Uski in Thompson Falls recetnly.

Time in the "Room" leads to wins on the mat.

Every prep wrestling team has a place where they practice, where they bond as teammates and where they become better wrestlers and that place is the wrestling room, the place where every great wrestler learns his craft.

Saying his team had not had enough quality time in their Room lately, Thompson Falls coach Mike Thilmony was glad that his team was finally free of storms, sickness and injuries enough to have some good sessions in the Hawks' wrestling room.

In between those long-awaited sessions in their Room, the Hawks were able to also get some quality competition in, hosting a triangular dual match with Plains-Hot Springs and Florence at TFHS Tuesday, and then participating in a triangular dual in Mission Saturday with the host Bulldogs and Florence again.

Wrestling without a full lineup the Hawks gave up lots of matches by forfeit, but competed very well in the matches that were actually contested on the map.

The Hawks lost to Florence 45-24 and Plains-Hot Springs 36-34 Tuesday, and fell 48-28 to Mission and 42-30 to Florence in Mission Saturday.

Highlights of Thursday's match with Florence included Trae Thilmony's pin of the Falcons' Adyn Meinzen at 138 pounds, Max Hannum's pin of Florence's Colten Rice at 160 and Dane Chojnacky's decision win over Dallas Blair at 182.

Westin Brown (126) and Josh Baldwin (170) lost tough matches in their weight classes.

Giving up 18 points on forfeits to Plains-Hot Springs, the Hawks watched Trae Thilmony (132), Elijah Ratliff (145), Baldwin (170) and Chojnacky (182) win by pin in their matches, and Shane Reishus won a 9-0 decision from P-HS's Bert DeTienne at 152.

Brown lost to Savage Horsemen standout Peter Carey at 126.

In Mission Saturday, Trae Thilmony, Hannum and Chojnacky won by pin against Mission, and Reishus won a major decision.

Wrestling Florence again Saturday, Trae Thilmony, Hannum and Chojnacky all won by pin again. Coach Thilmony said Ratliff and Baldwin were held out of Saturday's action due to illness and injury.

Coach Thilmony says the Blue Hawks are rounding into shape in time for the rapidly approaching tournament season.

"We have finally been able to get some good time in the room the last few weeks," he said. "We had three solid days last week and should get four more this week, and that's just what we need this time of season."
