I am so excited! I have been trying to learn about all the candidates running for Sheriff in order to know what each has to offer. I never dreamed that Sanders County would have such a qualified person as Chris Stough entering that race. I have a deep concern that whoever is elected will have the skills to fill that office, keeping our Constitutional rights enforced. Someone who will insist that there is no federal over reach; coming to and through him before coming into our county. Chris Stough is a firm believer in “sheriff first” for any agency coming into our county. His law enforcement training and experience is impeccable and thorough. I like the fact that he has worked for the DOD, therefore knows what the federal over reach might be and knows how to protect our community/county. I learned in my investigation that our sheriff’s office is a union “shop”. I did not know that. That needs someone who can mediate through the union and yet keep the sheriff’s department legal in that constraint. He has significant training in every discipline involved in running the sheriff’s department. Most of us may not realize that a very large percentage of the Sheriff’s position is administrative, not just being a badge on the ground. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Homeland Security, Public Safety and Emergency Management. He has made it a point to know many of the county departments, their needs and how to serve them. He is committed to working well with the Commissioners. He has taught in many of the disciplines needed; even teaching a kids basic survival course! Chris Stough is a man of integrity, a man of faith and a man who loves our country and our community. I am looking forward to learning more about Chris Stough during the weeks ahead as the campaign for Sheriff unfolds.
