Defining hypocrisy

A recent opinion is a classic example of conflating what they believe are “complex issues” of homelessness and immorality This is the misdirect gamesmanship we played as kids when we stood behind someone on the “left” side; and tapped them on the “right” to try to get them to look the wrong way. It’s easy to castigate by inference those who don’t hold to what is falsely portrayed as a more moderate higher perspective; that is in fact a muddled mess of right vs. wrong. Some are mislabeled by inference and implication with oversimplistic innuendo and vague generalizations.

It’s a “swing and a miss.” Like Babe Ruth, pointing to the far right-field stands with a bat. Pointing to a problem(s); with no solutions; other than suggesting a close or superficial perusal of the Words of Jesus; but no actual application of them… or the entire rest of the Bible for that matter. “Faith without works is dead.” It was actually Jesus, Himself Who said, “He that is without sin; let him cast the first stone.” As I remember that account it seemed those wanting to kill the sinner; went away in silence and dropped their stones. He then told the woman caught in sin, “Go and sin no more.” Regardless of whatever “religion” says; or Goldwater’s views on a moral issue were; it’s just another example of opinions elevated to the level of being gospel; but void of what God says on the matter.

It seems the real “hypocrites” are those forcing their lack of “morals” on others; like the teacher telling their innocent kindergarten kids to pledge allegiance to the rainbow flag. Or the current SCOTUS case with the high school football coach; fired 7 years ago for kneeling to pray by himself on the field before a game. It’s not those “fighting for their freedoms” or their God-given rights (as opposed to those perceived illegitimate rights) who are hypocrites. They aren’t the ones living in denial of reality when it comes to science or moral absolutes… no matter what anyone’s personal preferences might be. If San Francisco has taught us anything (or at least some willing to see and admit it); is evidence of what decades of self-serving, self-righteous, liberal, moral depravity creates… without God.

At least from this perspective, What has been clearly evident at various public meetings; isn’t a bunch of “right-wing radical extremists” trying to force their morals on anybody They are caring, hard-working, freedom loving people who are taking the time from their already busy lives to attend those meetings and talk with one another. Looking for ways to improve life for future generations and their neighbors… seems Jesus had a few words on that subject as well. Genuine people, business owners and fully invested people; working together; to help make a positive difference; by cleaning up the community, restoring historic buildings, bringing jobs and training into the area. They aren’t the ones living in glass houses; throwing stones or the “hypocrites” as the original word means; wearing masks.
