Conner Mushaney, age 8 of Trout Creek, takes off running during Trout Creek's Easter Egg Hunt Saturday morning.

Trout Creek Community Improvement Association (TCCIA) hosted their ninth annual Easter Eggstravaganza Saturday afternoon at the Trout Creek Community Park. Around 150 children registered for this year's event and gathered nearly 7,000 eggs that were stuffed by TCCIA members and volunteers with 7,000 pieces of candy.

Conner Mushaney, age 8, was ready at the mark to gather as many eggs as possible during Saturday's event. When The Ledger caught up with Mushaney, who goes to Trout Creek Public School, he was already busy diving into his basket and counting up all of his hard earned candy.

"The event went really well this year," TCCIA vice president Debb McNary said. "The weather was decent and everyone seemed really happy. There was some downtime before the hunt began but the pirate ship helped with that."

The park was sectioned off into four different areas for different age ranges. Children ages 13 and up got to partake in a scavenger hunt. "They had to find and collect 10 different items in order to be entered into the bicycle drawing," McNary said.

Some of the 150 children search for eggs during Saturday's Easter Eggstravaganza hosted by TCCIA.

This year, TCCIA was able to give away 12 bicycles in total to one boy and one girl from each age range. McNary said a TCCIA member donated 18 fishing poles that the children were also entered into a drawing to win. Coca Cola donated three cases of soda as well as a large stuffed bear that a boy in the 0-2 age range won. "When he saw that bear, he was just so excited," McNary said.

The Easter bunny made an appearance at Saturday's event for some photos and was greeted with some excited egg hunters. "I've been doing this for nine years and this is the first year where we saw only one kid afraid of the Easter bunny," McNary said. "This year, they ran toward him. I'm glad he was sitting down otherwise they would have tackled him to the ground."

McNary says the success of the event is because of the community and the effort they put into it. "It just makes you feel so good seeing the kids get so excited about Easter," she said.
