The Blue Hawk girls hit the road with the rest of the pack to start the Canal Bank Run in Ronan last week.

The Thompson Falls cross country team continued racking up the miles last weekend at the Canal Bank Run in Ronan on Saturday. Although it was a hot sunny day the trail had lots of shade for the full team.

With a lot less curves the Hawks took on racing with narrower trails while being a bit more crowded, Coach Sarah Naegeli noted. Senior Cael Thilmony finished the race with an impressive time of 18 minutes, 11 seconds. This was the first race of the season for Blue Hawk Brock Ryan, who finished in 21:01. Jakob Molina showed great improvement as he dropped three minutes off his time to finish in 27:46. Sean Nowlan (24:37) and Tuff Ryan (22:52) also ran for the Hawks, despite not feeling 100%.

"The soft surface helped their knees, but we still planned on them being cautious and working on feeling better," coach Naegeli said.

Senior Faith Palmer led the Hawk girls across the finish line in 21:23, earning fourth out of 55 runners. Aubrey Baxter (21:53) proved she was another Thompson runner to be on the lookout for, this run being her fastest by over a minute. Kylee Huff had a season's best run time at 27:43 while Jaden Bewick (31:38) had her first race for the Hawks.

Thompson is set to run in the Mission Invite on Tuesday but with the Thompson Falls Invite and Mountain West approaching the next week for homecoming, coach Naegeli stated that "these are the two meets that we're looking ahead and focusing on for the next two weeks."
