The Plains golf team hosted a nine-hole match last Friday with Thompson Falls and Superior joining the competition. Thompson brought 10 players, five boys and five girls.

The Horsemen/Trotters did not keep score for the match but Coach Lisa Brown says the kids were very excited to get on the course.

"Even in an event like Friday, the mindset is way different than practice. Our kids have made some great strides already, and Friday was really good for our golfers who have never golfed in a competition", Brown beamed at her team.

Blue Hawk Coach Doree Thilmony was proud of her team's start to competition. "It was a great start to the 2024 golf season with a pretty mild day of weather and a start to some baseline scores for our golfers," she stated. "We appreciated Lisa Brown putting out this nine-hole match play competition, as it was a nice start to the season where our new golfers had a little less stress and could learn the game better."

Sophia Chou led the Blue Hawk girls with a solid score of 44, with Aubrey Baxter carding a 50. Solveig Nygaard proved her swing earning a 65, while Olivia Naccarini finished out the varsity girls with a 68. Ella Johnson for the JV team was able to score a 68 as well.

Cael Thilmony and Theo Nygaard led the Hawk boys with a 46 each for the boys, while Braxton Dorscher ended the round with a 62, Chase Helvey had 63, and Weston Block finishing with a 72.

The teams now gear up for their first tournament of the year on April 4 in Hamilton.
