Red Devils fall to Pirates in opener

The Noxon-Thompson co-op baseball team had their inaugural game of their inaugural season, traveling to Polson to take on the Pirates last Saturday. The Red Devils fell 2-20 in just three innings to the Pirates, who won the state championship in 2023.

The Pirates came out on top in the first and were swift to strike out the Red Devils. The Devils, getting their own chance, were unable to strike out Polson. The next thing the crowd would see would be a Pirate running across home base. The Red Devils would try to keep Polson to only one run but were unable and within a blink of an eye, Polson was up another three runs.

Headed into the second inning the Red Devils were able to swiftly score their first run. The Pirates would try to keep the Red Devils to only one run but were quickly met with another Devil running across home base. Going into the bottom of the second, Polson was quickly able to gain another run putting the score 5-2. With the bases loaded the Pirates were able to gain the bulk of their runs in the second inning, going from just five runs to 13 before the inning was over. The Devils tried to catch up in the third inning but were unsuccessful. Polson would be able to gain four more runs in the third inning to take the win.


The Red Devils will travel to Frenchtown to face the Broncs on Thursday at 5 p.m.
