    Kalispell angler Jason Mahlen is breaking old records in the 2018 Spring Mack Days fishing event on Flathead Lake. The old records were his own set in 2016 for the event’s best 18-day average (85.5) and for the most fish entered by an angler (1,818). There is one weekend left in the 2018 event and Mahlen has an average of 90.56 for his 18-day average, which is the angler’s best 18 days out of all the days they fished.     In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the National Trails System, Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness will continue trail work this summer for 11 days in the proposed Wilderness on the Idaho/Montana border. The schedule begins June 2, National Trails Day, ith a crosscut saw and trails skills training day on Historic Star Peak Trail #999. The season ends with a workday on National Public Lands Day, September 29.
