Hawk golfers get ready for seASON

The Blue Hawk Golf Team has been getting ready for an exciting season. They have been diligently honing their technique with Coach Doree Thilmony and Assistant Coach Mike Baxter at the Rivers Bend Golf Course in Thompson Falls. Thilmony said that they are very lucky to have Baxter, who has an abundant amount of experience and technical expertise to contribute.

This year they have 11 golfers on the team and half of the athletes are also participating in Track and Field. This year there are enough girls for a team, unlike the last few years.

Senior Ellie Baxter is returning from last year where she placed 9th at Divisionals and 5th at State. This will be the first year for freshmen Addi Pardee and Emma Claridge. Also joining the team are two eighth graders, Aubrey Baxter and Adee Deal. Thilmony said that Baxter has a promising season ahead and is aspiring to finish in the top four at State.

There are six boys on the team. Back from last year are junior Cael Thilmony, sophomore Jacob Maleur and senior Colton Wormwood, who competed in divisionals last year and is hoping to break into the State tournament this season. It's the first year for senior Alex Sweeden, junior Theo Nygaard and freshman Mason Park.

"Our goal is to get in the top six at Divisionals," said Thilmony. Their first tournament was scheduled for Wednesday, April 5, at the Indian Springs Golf Course where divisional will also be played. Those results will be posted in next week's paper.
