Noxon, Hot Springs prepare for District

Hot Springs and Noxon track teams were among the 25 teams that competed in the KLH track meet in Missoula on Saturday. It was the last regular meet before Districts. Numerous athletes accomplished their personal best. "The kids are peaking," said Hot Springs Coach Andrew Leichtnam.

Elijah Campbell, Wyatt Campbell, David Chapman, Calvin Timmer and Sawyer Hofstetter all boasted personal records for the Hot Springs Savage Heat. Elijah Campell got 8th in the 3200 followed by brother Wyatt coming in 9th. Weston Slonaker took 13th out of 72 competitors in the discus with a throw of 113 ft. 10 in. David Chapman achieved 7th place out of 19 in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 46.48.

For the Hot Springs women; Georgia Uski got a personal record as did Kara Christensen, who placed 11th out of 38 in the javelin with a 82 foot throw.

"I am super happy with the track meet from Saturday. Our team has been improving each meet just like we are supposed to do," said Coach Matt Havens.

Super-star athlete Emily Brown won first place and got a personal record in the 200 meter in a time of 28 seconds flat, won first place in the 400 with a time of 1:01.05, won first place in the javelin with a throw of 113 feet, seven inches and earned fourth place and a personal record in the 100 meter run in a time of 13.49.

The Noxon Red Devils women's team placed seventh out of 18 teams. Sky Irgens, Maygen Swanson, Natasha Fisher and Elloria Jensen all accomplished their personal records thus far.

Shamus Wheeldon, Shane Murray and Kade Hill all achieved personal records.

"We are ready for Districts but not ready to be done yet," said Havens.

Hot Springs and Noxon will be hitting the road Saturday for the 6B/13C/14C District meet taking place in Missoula.
