Elijah Campbell of Hot Springs, above competing at divisional, placed 24th in the 3,200 at state.

It was state-bound for five athletes from Hot Springs and Noxon schools last weekend. Laurel hosted the class A and C event at the Laurel Sports Complex.

"The three kids we took to state laid it all out there this week," said Hot Springs Coach Andrew Leichtnam.

Sophomore Elijah Campbell placed 24th in the 3,200 in a time of 11:52.61. David Chapman placed 11th in the 300 hurdles in 43.09 and Quincy Styles-Depoe placed 20th in the 300 hurdles in 44.98.

"We are very sophomore heavy at the moment so I'm really looking forward to seeing this group evolve in the next twelve months. Most of the boys are turning their attention towards football season and preparing in the weight room this summer. It's always a somber feeling knowing that this year is now in the past and it's time to move forward," said Leichtnam.

Noxon Red Devil All-State competitor Emily Brown ended her high school track career with flying colors, winning the third place trophy in the 800 with a personal record time of 2:18.29, which broke the school record. She placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 115 feet two inches and placed 14th in the 400. "Emily had an awesome weekend – so proud of her for what she has achieved this year – I wish her luck next year," said Coach Matt Havens.

All-State sophomore Ricky Williams claimed fourth place in the high jump, tying his personal best, with a six foot two inch jump and eighth in the triple jump with a personal best of 41 feet 9.5 inches. "Ricky has two more years – his future is very bright – I can't wait to see how he matures in track," said Havens.
