Locals qualify for state hoop shoot

Two Thompson Falls students were the best in their age group and are moving on in the Elks hoop shoot competition. Quinn Nichols and Tristan Kelly of Thompson Falls won their respective age groups at the Western District competition, held last weekend in Polson. The two qualified for the state competition. Nichols won the age 8-9 division for the girls and Kelly the boys' age 12-13 division.
Lou Hannum
Lou Hannum of Trout Creek placed second among boys age 10-11, as did Dani Hill of Noxon for girls in that age group. Trevor Fitchett of Thompson Falls was third for boys 8-9 and Sonja Swatman of Trout Creek was third among girls age 12-13.
The state competition is set for Saturday, Feb. 3, in Livingston. Winners from that competition will advance to the regional finals in March and compete against winners from North Dakota and South Dakota.
