Trout Creek market in need of volunteers

The Trout Creek Farmer’s Market needs some help if it is going to operate this summer. Market organizer Sarah Cooper is taking the season off and so will the market if no one steps forward.

Cooper started the market back in 2012 and has continued to nourish the responsibility since.

“For the last five years my family and I have volunteered to run the Trout Creek Farmer’s Market,” Cooper said in a widespread email searching for helpers. “Nurturing community is something that is a natural outgrowth of who we are as a family, it has been fun, and a lot of work to do alone.”

A volunteer has stepped forward to manage the online marketing. If others would sign-up for some of the other duties such as putting up and taking down signs on Wednesdays, helping vendors set-up their booths and answering questions, the job of running the market could be shared amongst a few different people.

“The good news is that I have the framework all set-up, and would be happy to help someone, or ideally someones, successfully manage the market for the 2018 season,” added Cooper. “The Trout Creek Community Improvement Association is a dream to work with, and I want the market to continue into the future.”

If interested in having a farmer’s market this summer, you need to act fast. Cooper has asked anyone interested in volunteering to contact her by the end of this week or she will “pull the plug” for 2018.

“I’ve always encouraged others to take time off when they need to, and I’ve decided to take my own advice,” Cooper commented while adding that she does plan on returning for the 2019 season.

The Market is held 4-6 p.m.Wednesdays at the Trout Creek Park. If interested in volunteering contact Cooper at (406) 240-7836 or troutcreek
