The Plains Trotters were happy to be back on the court last weekend, playing together for the first time since COVID-19 forced their season to a halt while the school went to remote learning. The team did not practice during the remote learning at Plains High School as well, so Saturday's match against Florence was a welcome return for the Trotters.

"Our team is still recovering and we have had to reschedule so many games," said coach Jesse Butcher. "We are seeing growth, but not having that time to work on skills is hard to come back from."

The Trotters fell to the hard-hitting Florence Falcons on Saturday, 5-25, 19-25 and 13-25. The home game was lost, but the team is enthusiastic about being back for the remainder of the season. "It's hard and we're still getting back to normal," senior Madison Elliott stated. "I just enjoy being with everyone. They all make it fun," she said of her teammates.

Coach Butcher said her team's strength is their unity, which was apparent Saturday as they worked together and were stronger each set against Florence.

Elliott said the team did really well blocking against the Falcons on Saturday, and that they are looking forward to conference matchups including Thompson Falls and Eureka.

Now that the Trotters are back together, their schedule will be packed with competition. Plains was set to travel to Bigfork on Monday, host Mission on Thursday and hit the road again Saturday to Eureka.
