Mack Days enters final weeks

 


The Spring Mack Days event is entering its final days and anglers have turned in a total of 17,214 lake trout entries. The event is held each spring and fall by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and sanctioned by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.

Kolton Turner of Kalispell leads with anglers with 1,192 entries and an 18-day average of 61.72. In second place is Jason Mahlen of Kalispell (1,136, 59.78), third is Bob Turner of Kalispell (930, 48.78), fourth place is Steve Benson of Spokane Valley (567, 30.67), Sam Cusker of Bigfork is in fifth (552, 32.47), Clint Speer of Columbia Falls is sixth (547, 29.33), in seventh place is Jerry Benson of Plains (480, 26.33), eighth is Mike Benson of Lonepine (468, also leading the age 70 and over anglers), Larry Karper of Florence is in ninth place (464, 25.78) and Travis Banyai of Lakeside rounds out the top 10 (441, 23.83).

Julie Perkins of Kalispell leads the ladies with 216 entries, Connie Jones of Kalispell is second with 76, 3rd place is Rebecca Spring of Alberton with 18, Ia Thao-Missoula is in fourth place with 11, and Amanda Hoback of Arlee is fifth with 5 lake trout entries.

Leading the 13-17 anglers is Matt Guckenberg, Jr., of Kalispell with 59, Brodie Smith of Kalispell has 37, Karson Cox of Charlo has 6, and Michael Palmer of Kalispell has 2. The 12 and under leader is Wyatt Best of Florence with 6, Gage Spring of Alberton has 4, Tripp Bick of Arlee, Martin Phan of Kalispell, Allydia Yang and Ava Yang of Missoula are all at 2, Henry Phan of Kalispell and Bridgett Reed of Kalispell each have one entry.

Sam Cusker leads the smallest lake trout contest with a 126 mm entry, and Jade Smith has the largest entry at 41 inches and 25.25 pounds.
