Over the Hill season tees off

The Over the Hill gang dusted off their clubs for the first week of the season at River's Bend Golf Course on Monday.

Chipping in as they got back in the swing of things were Bruce Sterling on No. 4, Bary Moore on Nos. 4 and 8, and Dan Whittenburg on No. 4.

Mike Normandin scored the low gross for the men with a 40, and Darrell "Torgy" Torgrimson had the low net of 31. For the women, Jan Thompson's 49 was good enough for low gross and Chris Gross had the low net of 29.

In hole play, Sterling was the closest to the pin in two on No. 1, Rusty Haggard sank the long putt on No. 2, and Gary Moe took that honor on No. 3. Russ Wood had the long putt on No. 4 and smacked the longest drive on No. 9, while Barb Wood's drive was longest among the women.

Jesse Mack's drive was the longest of those 70 and over on No. 6, Christie Beaty had the long putt on NO. 6, Dave Tallant's was longest on No. 7 and Al Luckow took those honors on No. 8. Rick Kendall had the long putt on No. 9.

Larry Eddy won the pay for par competition on No. 4, and Normandin and Kendall each added birdies to their scorecards.

The Hill gang will be back for more fun next Monday at River's Bend.
