Hill Gang mixes it up with scramble

Overcast skies meant cool temps and plenty of shade for the Over the Hill Gang during Monday morning play at River’s Bend this week. The gang played a yellow ball scramble format this week. The yellow ball scramble format rules consist of having three players to a team, one player plays a yellow ball and the others play a standard ball. On each hole of play one member from each team will play the yellow ball for a score. The remaining two team members play a scramble following standard scramble rules. The teams rotate who has the yellow ball each hole.
On the course Chris Gross sank the long putt on No. 10 and Bruce Sterling the long putt on No. 11. Chuck Manry rolled in the longest putt on No. 12, and Dan Whitenburg crept the ball along to clinch the long putt on No. 13. Gary Thompson tripled-down with the longest putts on No. 15 and No. 17 as well as claiming closest to the pin on No. 14. Bruce Craw walked in the longest putt on No. 16 and Al Luckow dropped in the longest putt on No. 18. Rick Kendall, Dave Garr and Jan Thompson each hammered the ball to take the longest drives of the round on No. 18.
Dave Petteys and Darrell “Torgy” Torgrimson both landed chip-ins, Petteys on No. 15 and Torgy on No. 16.
The team consisting of Jerry Neil, Torgy and Bruce Sterling went on to claim first place in yellow ball play with a score of 28.8 and the team of Chuck Manry, Dan Whittenburg and Ray Marshall took first place in scramble play with a score of 24.0. The team of Dave Petteys, Mike Normandin and Gary Thompson took second place in yellow ball play with a score of 29.4 and the team of Gary Moe, Dennis Grip and Al Luckow placed second in scramble play with a score of 25.0. Last but not least the team of Barb Wooden, Kristy Beaty, Jan Thompson and Chris Gross came in third in yellow ball play with a score of 31.75 and Reese Woolford, Dan Kiers, and Rick Kendall placed third in scramble play with a score of 25.4.
