The Plains Trotters and the Noxon Red Devils earned many personal records last weekend at the Eureka Invitational track and field meet. Four teams competed in the event: Lincoln County, Troy, Plains and Noxon. Several athletes placed in the top three.

The results for the Plains Horsemen and Trotters are as follows:

Nicholas Hill placed second in the 100, 2nd in the 4x400 relay and seventh in the shot put; Jay Flanagan placed third in the 100, second in the 4x400 relay and seventh in the javelin; Brenden Vanderwall placed third in the 200, second in the 4x400 relay and seventh in the discus; Mike Reistoffer placed ninth in the 100 and fourth in the 200; Mason Elliott placed first in the 400, first in the 110 hurdles and second in the 4x400 relay; Caleb Lakko placed second in the shot put, first in the discus and second in the javelin; Joseph Martin placed 2nd in the 4x400 relay, second in the 4x100 relay and third in the triple jump; Levi Blood placed 3rd in the shot put and eighth in the javelin. Amy Hill placed third in the 100 and 4th in the long jump; Kalli Tuma placed second in the 200, first in the 400 and second in the 100 hurdles; Peyton Wasson placed second in the 800 and second in the 1600; Alexis Helterline place third in the 800, first in the shot put and first in the discus.

The results for Noxon are as follows:

Ricky Williams placed seventh in the 100, third in the high jump, second in the long jump and second in the triple jump. Skye Irgens placed second in the 100, fifth in the 200, second in the 400, fifth in the 300 hurdles and fifth in the 100 hurdles; Georgia Boehme placed fourth in the 400, sixth in the 800, and fourth in the discus.

“Our year is about building up - working hard at practice so they can excel at the meets weeks down the road. We have 11 kids out this year - good group - small but mighty to coin a phrase,” said Coach Matt Havens. Assisting him this year is Jared VanVleet.

Red Devils returning to track this year are: Williams competing in all three jumps; Emily Brown competing in the javelin, 400, 800 and relays and Irgens competing in both hurdles, the 400 and relays. Havens said that their goal this year is to get stronger and faster at the right time, “districts - divisional - state.”

The Plains track team will be competing in Bigfork this weekend and the next meet for Noxon is April 15 in Libby.
