Horsemen dominate Alberton at home

Plains faced the Alberton Panthers at home taking the win 67-30. Quickly the Horsemen came out winning the jump off and getting the first points. Alberton tried to answer with a three but was unsuccessful. From a swift steal by Darren Standeford Plains was able to gain another basket before the Panthers were able to get points on the board. The Horsemen put full court pressure on Alberton, gaining another steal and basket. With only a minute left in the first quarter Plains had a colossal 21 point lead over the Panthers. The Horsemen were able to keep their lead quickly, setting the tone for the second quarter. The Panthers were able to get past the tight defense but they were no match for the swift rebounds Plains would get, and going into half time the Horsemen kept their monumental lead.

Coming back from the half the score was 49-18. The Horsemen kept their fire in the third quarter, but Alberton was able to break down their defense to try to close the point gap. With a minute left in the third Plains was able to keep the lead 61-22. The Panthers would make the bulk of their points in the fourth but they were unable to close the colossal point gap, letting the Horsemen secure the win.

Darren Standeford led the Horsemen with 28 points, Zayden Allen close behind with 12 points.

“We tried to get everyone to shoot this game, we suited up freshman Cooper Meredith, who made four points for us, something we are really proud of,” Coach Tyrel Allen said.
