Red Devils trounce Trojans

The Noxon-Thompson Falls co-op baseball team added another win to their season after taking on the Troy Trojans 13-2.

Troy got on the board in the top of the first inning after a player singled and one walked, each scoring a run. Lars Goedhard was the first Red Devil to get on base, Shane Hatchel would be walked, Brayden McJunkin would ground out to third base, drawing an out, while Goedhard would advance to third base. Bryson McCormick would be struck by a pitch loading the bases, and Payton Chambers would draw a walk leading to Goedhard scoring the first run for Noxon. With two outs and two men on base Kade Hill out swinging, leaving the Trojans in the lead.

Noxon was able to keep Troy from scoring in the second inning while Goedhard would single, letting Justice Kayser sneak in a run to tie up the score at the bottom of the second.

The Red Devils would keep their momentum, keeping the Trojans to a three batter out inning. At the bottom of the third, a walk would put Red Devil McCormick on base, and Ian Brown would be struck by a pitch putting him on first and McCormick on second, who would quickly steal third. Brown would advance to second on a defensive indifference, and McCormick would score on a passed ball, leaving Brown on third base and Noxon up by two. Chambers would hit a single, and Brown would score. With Hill up to bat Chambers would steal second and third base and Hill would strike out swinging. Sam Christensen would be up to bat as the first strike would lead to Chambers stealing home for another Red Devil run. Noxon was able to keep Troy from scoring in the fourth inning, while scoring four runs on six hits. With Chambers hitting a triple, the Red Devils would keep their seven point lead over the Trojans. The Red Devils would pitch another three person no hitter, while sneaking in four more runs in the final fifth inning to take the win.

Goedhard and Chambers each collected two hits for Noxon, while each stealing multiple bases for the Red Devils. The Red Devils had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game.

The Red Devils will host the Frenchtown Broncos April 25 starting at 3 p.m.
