Teams see tough competition at Top 8

Runners compete in the 1600 meter race at Thompson Falls earlier this season.

It was another weekend filled with impressive track and field but first eight athletes from Thompson Falls and one from Hot Springs took to the John Cheek Top Eight in Missoula.

From Thompson Falls. Braxton Dorscher earned a time of 12 seconds for his 100 meter race. He would go on to take sixth place for his long jump of 18 feet, 5 inches. Cael Thilmony raced the 1600 meters, earning a time of 5 minutes, 9 seconds, and would go on to take third place for his stunning 3200 meter time of 11:28. Trinity Riffle took on the 100 meter race for the women earning a time of 14 seconds. In the 200 meters, Riffle would take fourth place with her time of 28.16. Riffle took third in the high jump with her stunning jump of 4'8". Aubrey Baxter took third place in the women's 400 meter race with her time of 1:04. Thompson had two relay teams in the co-ed 800 medley relay. Addyson Deal, Breadon Ferris, Aubrey Baxter and Ian Myers took first place. While Braxton Dorscher, Riffle, Kenney and a Charlo athlete also competed.

Braedon Ferris took second place in the discus with this throw of 141'8.5", a new personal best. Ian Myers threw the javelin for the Hawks, throwing 120'3.5". Addyson Deal threw the javelin for the women throwing, 91'0.5". She would go on to pole vault for Thompson, flying through the air to clear 7'0", and cleared 29'1.75" in the triple jump. Peighton Kenney also hit 7'0" for the Hawks with the pole vault.

Kara Christensen would be the only Savage Heat to take on the Top eight, earning fifth place in the 100 meter hurdles with her time of 18.04. She earned second place in javelin with a massive throw of 99'10", and threw 90'9" for Hot Springs in the discus.

Thompson Falls and Plains then hit the road to compete at the Archie Roe invite with 16 other schools for a competitive day of track and field.

Hawk senior Braxton Dorscher ran the 100 meters getting a time of 12.36, and his brother Teagan Dorscher earned a time of 12.95 for his freshman 100 meter race, a new personal best. Braedon Ferris took on the 200 meter race, earning a new personal best with his time of 24.07, Braxton Dorscher with 24.73. In the JV 200 meters, Ethan Geisbusch earned a time of 26.29, Devon Garrett finished in 26.47, and Kolton Oden had a 27.08. Teagan Dorscher was the only Hawk in the freshman 200 meters with a new personal best of 26.49. Ian Myers earned a time of 56.84 for his 200 meter race. In the JV race, Garrett earned a time of 1:02, Oden finished in 1:03, and Kaleb Vanek had a 1:10. Chase Helvey ran in the freshman 400 meters, getting 1:07. Blake Shusterman ran the JV 800 meter race, earning a time of 2:36, with Vanek behind in 2:51. Helvey ran the 800 meter for the freshman earning a time of 2:27.

In the 1600 meters, Hawk Cael Thilmony earned a new personal best of 5:01, while Shusterman's 5:53 in the JV race was also a personal best. Thilmony went on to take on the 3200 meter race, getting his best time of the season, 10:57. Geisbusch took on the 300 meter hurdles for Thompson, earning a time of 50.09. Braxton Dorscher, Geisbusch, Myer, and Ferris were the men's 4 by 400 relay team, finishing in 3:49. Teagan Dorscher, Garrett, Thilmony and Helvey ran the men's JV 4 by 400 relay in 4:15.

Trinity Riffle earned a time of 13.89 for her 100 meter race, and in the JV race, Ellyonna Vild earned a time of 15.69 and Amaya Harmon finished in 20.01. Addyson Deal ran the 100 meters for the freshman earning 14.50. Riffle earned a time of 27.86 for her 200 meter run. In the JV race, Ellyonna Vild got a time of 32.88, Allyeska Vild with 35.35, and Amaya Harmon with 42.93. Allyeska Vild ran the 400 meters JV for the Hawks, crossing the finish line in 1:17, while Aubrey Baxter took first place in her 400 meter freshman race in 1:03. Peighton Kenney took on the 800 meters JV, getting a time of 3:03. In the 1600 meters, senior Faith Palmer earned a time of 5:57, while in the freshman group Evy Edwards earned a time of 6:58. Edwards went on to take on the 3200 meters freshman, earning a time of 15:04. Deal, Kenney, Baxter, and Riffle were the women's JV 4 by 400 relay team, finishing in 4:37.

Zack Ames threw the shot put for the Hawks, earning a stunning throw of 37'8". James Schmidt took third place for his shot put JV throw, throwing 38'6.5" a new personal best for the senior. Gabe Hutton threw 33'3", Thomas Pate had a 28'0", and Colton Arnold a 27'4.25". Wyatt Brotherton threw the shot put for freshman earning a throw of 26'2.25". Braedon Ferris took fourth place in varsity discus with his throw of 140'6", Ames had 109'3", Schmidt a 89'6". Hutton threw discus for JV earning a throw of 78'3", Pate with 61'1", Arnold with 54'6", and Wyatt Brotherton threw 58'8" for the freshman. Ian Myers threw the javelin for the Hawks earning a throw of 135'2", Schmidt with 98'11", and Ames with 94'9". Arnold threw the javelin for JV earning a throw of 76'11", Pate with 56'11", and Wyatt Brotherton earning 73'8" for his freshman throw. Myers would go on to take third place in the high jump clearing 5'4" a new personal best for the junior. Braxton Dorscher jumped the long jump for Thompson earning 18'0.75". His brother Teagan would go on to long jump in the freshman group clearing 17'2.5" a new personal best for the freshman.

Alyeska Vild threw the discus earning a throw of 38'11", while Amaya Harmon threw discus for JV getting a throw of 39'11.5". Peighton Kenney took third place in the javelin JV with her throw of 83'6", Allyeska Vild with 56'2", Ellyonna Vild with 55'3", and Harmon with 45'8". Addyson Deal took first place in the javelin freshman group with her stunning throw of 98'7". Trinity Riffle took on the high jump clearing 4'9". Kenney took on the pole vault for JV earning a jump of 7'0", while Deal took fifth place in the pole vault freshman clearing 6'0". Ellyonna Vild jumped the long jump for JV clearing 12'7.5" a new personal best. Deal took second place in triple jump freshman with her jump of 30'7", while teammate Aubrey Baxter took third with her jump of 29'7".

For Plains John Thurston ran the 100 meters earning a time of 11.70, Nicholas Hill with 11.86, and Zander Czifro with 12.74. Matthew Thurston ran the 100 meter JV earning a time of 12.95, Jack Cockrell with 13.94. Anthony DeKay would be the only freshman to take on the 100 meters in the freshman group crossing the finish line in 12.70. John Thurston took on the 200 meters getting 24.52, with Nicholas Hill behind with 24.58. Matthew Thurston earned a time of 26.84 for her 200 meter JV run, Liam Lyman with 27.35, Cockrell with 28.40. In the 400 meter race Czifro earned a time of 54.45, Joseph Martin with 54.74, and Aiden Silva with 1:00. Martin would go on to race in the 800 meters crossing the finish line in 2:11. Mike Reistroffer earned a time of 5:12 for his 1600 meter run, Kalem Ercanbrack with 5:24. For the 1600 meter JV Konrad Maicher earned a time of 6:00.25, while teammate Asher Seymour crossed behind with 6:00.42. Reistroffer went on to race in the 3200 meters, getting a time of 11:07, Ercanbrack with 11:59. In the 3200 meters JV Seymour crossed the finish line in 13:06, Maicher with 13:14. Nicholas Hill would be the only Horsemen to take on the 100 meter hurdles earning fourth place with his time of 18.97. Cody West ran the 300 meter hurdles in just 46.27, while Matthrew Thurston took on the 300 meter hurdles for the freshman earning a time of 51.01. Nicholas Hill, Czifro, Greg Tatum and John Thurston were the men's 4 by 100 relay team earning a time of 46.09. West, Cooper Meredith, Cockrell, and Matthew Thurston were the freshman 4 by 400 relay team earning a time of 48.98. Tatum, Martin, Restriffer, and Czifro were the 4 by 400 meter relay team earning a time of 3:47 for Plains.

Amy Hill earned a time of 15.29 for her 100 meter run, while in the 100 meter freshman Aly Roy earned a time of 14.71, Ireland dCorbin with 15.04, Ashley Ferlan with 16.62 and Jaycee Carr with 15.69. Amy Hill went on to take on the 200 meters earning a time of 32.63, Roy earned a time of 30.75 for Plains in the 200 meter freshman group, Corbin with 31.56 and Carr with 32.08. Kalli Tuma earned a time of 1:04 in the 400 meter, a new season best. Roy ran the 400 meter for the freshman crossing the finish line in 1:11. Peyton Wasson earned a time of 2:37 for her 800 meter race, she went on to run the 1600 meters earning a time of 6:18. Tuma earned a time of 17.27 for her 100 meter hurdle race, Amy Hill with 19.74. Tuma would go on to take on the 300 meter hurdles crossing with 52.63, Katelyn Subatch with 56.88. Ashley Ferlan would be the only freshman to take on the 300 meter hurdles earning a time of 57.66. Subatch, Wasson, Ferlan, and Tuma would be the 4 by 400 relay team for Plains earning a time of 4:38.

Brenden Vanderwall threw the shot put for Plains earning 37'9", Greg Tatum with 34'4", Kylan Bostick with 33'8", and Aiden Silva with 31'7.5". Vanderwall threw the discus throwing 113'5", Bostick threw the discus for JV throwing 72'9", Liam Lyman with 48'1". Cooper Meredith threw discus for the freshman throwing 85'5". Joseph Martin cleared 129'3" with his javelin throw, Greg Tatum with 104'10", Konrad Maicher with 102'0", and Vanderwall with 97'3". In the JV javelin, Kylan Bostick threw 110'2", Asher Seymour with 82'5". Meredith took sixth place for his high jump clearing 5'2". In the JV long jump Kalem Ercanbrack jumped 16'8", Liam Lyman with 14'4", and Silva with 14'3.5". Meredith would go on to jump in the triple jump earning 34'8.25".

Alexis Deming took second place in shot put for her impressive throw of 39'3.5", she would go on to take first place in discus throwing 120'3". Mackenzie Tulloch took on the shot put for JV throwing 23'1", while Ireland Corbin threw shot put for the freshman with her throw of 23'5". Mackenzie Tulloch would throw the discus for the Trotters throwing 61'9", while Ashley Ferlan took third place in the discus freshman group for her throw of 85'1.5", Corbin with 73'1" both new personal bests for the Plains athletes. Katelyn Subatch clearned 4'7" in the high jump for Plains. Jaycee Carr jumped in the long jump for freshman clearing 11'8.5".

Plains and Thompson Falls will travel to Libby for the District meet this weekend.
