Red Devils split games with Troy

The Noxon-Thompson Falls baseball team finished their season with a double-header against the Troy Trojans, first falling 11-7 before making a comeback with an 8-1 win..

Noxon got on the board in the first inning after Sam Christensen singled, scoring a run. Troy was able to get on the board in the bottom of the first inning to tie up the game. The Red Devils took the lead in the top of the third inning after Bryson McCormick tripled, scoring two runs putting the score 3-1. The Trojans flipped the game in the bottom of the fourth, scoring six runs on one hit. Troy now held an 8-3 lead. The Red Devils were able to score another run in the top of the fifth inning, while keeping the Trojans from knocking on home plate. Troy was able to sneak in three more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Noxon added three more runs in the top of the seventh but it wasn’t enough for the win.

Lars Goedhard, Sam Christensen, and McCormick each earned two runs for the Red Devils. Out of the five bases Noxon stole, Goedhard led with two.

The Red Devils shook off their loss and came back fighting, taking the second game for themselves to end the season on a high note with a quick three inning 8-1 win.

Noxon was able to get on the board in the second inning after Michael Koskela drew a walk, scoring one run. The Trojans were able to answer back with a run of their own, but Noxon was able to score six runs in the third inning, helping them defeat the Trojans. Justice Kayser doubled scoring a run, and Sean Nowlen, Isaac Huffles, Koskela and McCormick each drew a walk scoring a run.

Nowlan led with two runs scored, while Koskela, Tate Bosker, McCormick, Kayser, Isaac Huffles, and Chance McDaid each got one.

“I think the team had a great season. The guys developed a fire and we built a foundation for next season,” said coach Lucas MacArthur.

“We had a lot of fun and some of the guys are still practicing and gearing up for next year, and that makes me happy to see,” MacArthur said.
