Trotters drop 2 in Frenchtown

December 7, 2017

The District 14C Plains Trotters dropped a pair of games to two of the best 13C teams last week in the season-opening Tip-Off Tournament in Frenchtown.

Coach Jessica Nagy and her Trotters lost to Drummond 45-40 Friday and then fell to Clark Fork 52-28 Saturday. Now 0-2, the Trotters’ only game this week is at Darby in another non-conference clash. Darby is also 0-2 after losing to Noxon 38-31 and to St. Regis 55-26 in their two games at Frenchtown.

Plains led Drummond 31-25 heading into the fourth quarter of that game before the Lady Trojans exploded for 20 while holding the Trotters to six in the final eight minutes to walk off with the win.

Plains had extremely balanced scoring in that game as Lindsay Laws, Kara Altmiller and Jessica Thompson each dropped in eight points, Kassidy Kinzie and AnaLisa Loberg scored six apiece, and Natalee Deschamps and Rachel Huenink two each.

Morgan Radtke threw in 19 points for Drummond, Sofia DeSantiago added 10, and Sara Kielly and Donna Seekell eight each.

A pressing Clark Fork team took control of Saturday’s game with Plains by winning the second quarter 23-11 to take a 26-15 lead into halftime. The Mountain Cats, a co-operative of players from Alberton and Superior, put the game on ice with a 12-3 win of the fourth quarter.

Laws scored 17 points to lead Plains, Thompson added 10 and Huenink one.

Three players reached double figure scoring for Clark Fork as Madison Mask netted 19 points, Madison Lommen 14 and Kenzie Mueller 12.
