The Thompson Falls Blue Hawk boys split road games last week, knocking off Mission 66-54 in Mission Thursday and falling to top-ranked, undefeated Bigfork 78-57 in Bigfork Saturday.

Locked into the No. 2 seed from District 7B for the Western B divisional tournament in Ronan Feb. 22-24, the Hawks will complete regular season play hosting Troy Friday.

Blue Hawk coach Jake Mickelson is already looking ahead to the Western B.

“The tournament season is almost here, it is right at our doorstep,” he said, “and we seem to be getting more comfortable with each other every game we play. We know we still have to take care of business with Troy this week, but are really looking forward to Ronan. That could be a lot of fun.”

Mickelson has been working a few new players into his rotation recently as they have just become varsity-eligible.

At Mission, seniors Danny Hoisington and Dylan Beckman led the way, Hoisington with 23 points, 10 rebounds and six steals and Beckman with 19 points and four assists.

Jake Long added eight points and a team-high 16 rebounds, Payton Frields chipped in with seven points, seven boards and three steals, Nate Thibeault five points, three assists and three steals, and Grant Lundberg four points and four rebounds.

Jacob Hugs scored 25 points to pace Mission and Wacey McClure added 13.

Like they did in Thompson Falls earlier this season, the Hawks played one fantastic quarter against Bigfork, catching the Vikings’ unbeaten attention, before falling back. Trailing 13-6 going into the second quarter, the Hawks won the second quarter 21-18 to close within 31-27 at halftime.

Hoisington scored 18 points and secured eight rebounds to lead the Hawks, Long added 13 points, seven rebounds and three steals, Frields 10 points and four assists, and Beckman eight points and five steals.

Thibeault and Michael Johnson scored three apiece and Lundberg two.

Beau Santisteven poured in 36 points to led Bigfork and Logan Gilliard added 20.
