Blue Hawks show well in ARM meet

The Thompson Falls girls scored 24 points and the Hawk boys 21 in the Whitefish ARM Invitational track and field meet Saturday.

The Lady Hawks were led by freshmen Jody Detlaff and Josey Neesvig, who won first in the high jump and second in the 3200 meter run, respectively, while Cody Garrison placed in three events and Danny Hoisington two to pace the boys.

Detlaff, who also plays on the Lady Hawk softball team when not busy with track and field, cleared 4 feet, 10 inches to win the high jump based on fewer misses as three other girls also cleared that height.

Another Lady Hawk softball player, Riley Wilson placed sixth in the high jump with a best mark of 4-6.

Neesvig impressively won second place to Polson’s Bea Frissell in the 3200, clocking out in 12:50.79 as Frissell won in a State-A qualifying time of 11:32.61.

Maya Stiles placed fifth in the pole vault, Kacey VanZanten placed sixth in the javelin and the 400 meter relay team finished sixth to complete Lady Hawk scoring in Whitefish.

For the Hawk boys, Garrison pulled down placing points, winning fifth place in the pole vault and 300 meter hurdles and sixth in the javelin, and Hoisington took third in the triple jump and fourth in the 110 meter hurdles.

Freshman Cody Burk won third place in the discus with a best effort of 118 feet 9 inches to complete Thompson Falls scoring in the ARM meet.
