SAND-BLASTING Elsie Brown and her Hawk teammates played in the Western B divisonal at Bigfork Tuesday. Golfers who qualify from the Western B move on to the State B tourney in Shepherd next week.

Quietly yet effectively going about their golfing business, Thompson Falls seniors Dylan Beckman and Elsie Brown put exclamation points on their standout senior seasons by winning first place honors in the St. Regis Invitational played at Trestle Creek golf course last Thursday, May 3. Now they can start making their post season golfing plans for Bigfork and Shepherd, where the divisional and state tournaments will be played in the next few weeks.

Two of the best in the Western B-C ranks this season, Beckman won his St. Regis title by firing a 76 at Trestle Creek, while Brown earned her tourney championship with an ultra-fine round of 90.

The Hawks actually claimed the top three spots and five of the top ten in the boys tourney in St. Regis. Kade Pardee backed up Beckman with another outstanding round of 81 for second place, Ethan Brown chipped in with an 85 for third, Michael Johnson carded an 88 for fifth place and Nathan Ostwald shot a 98 for seventh.

Plains' Duncan Chisholm scored a 102 and tied for ninth place.

In the girls' tourney, Brown finished first with her 90, Peyton Benson of Eureka was second with a 109, Jonna Warnken of Clark Fork third with 111, Lady Hawk freshman Megan Baxter (who also competes in track and field for Thompson Falls) fourth with 113, Kaylee Cole of Plains fifth with 134 and McKenna O'Lexey, also of Plains, sixth with 160.

In other previously unreported action, Beckman led the Hawk boys to second place in team scoring by winning second place individually in the two-day Loyola Invitational in Missoula April 30-May 1.

Beckman carded rounds of 81 and 80 for a 161 total, Ethan Brown (86-85 – 171) placed seventh, and Pardee (88-92 – 180), Johnson (100-89 – 189) and Ostwald (105-99 – 204) all followed.

Elsie Brown shot rounds of 85 and 97 to post the sixth place girls' score of 182 in the Loyola Invite, while Baxter registered rounds of 115 and 113 to arrive at a final score of 228.
