MAKING THE PLAY - Lady Hawk pitcher Kelsey Frank tries to get out of the way as third baseman Riley Wilson makes a throw to first base in Thompson Falls Thursday. Hawks will play in a Western B-C play-in game next week for a berth into the divisional tournament,

Go out there, play ball and have some fun.

The Thompson falls Lady Hawk softball team lived the dream last week, went out and played ball and had some fun, winning a game from Loyola Thursday and playing Manhattan tough before dropping an 8-7 decision in Drummond Friday.

Now looking at a Western B-C divisional tournament play-in game, either at Troy or at Eureka next Monday, coach Jared Koskela and his Lady Hawks, were set to complete regular season play with a game against Drummond in St. Ignatius Tuesday, although results of that game were not available at press time.

"It looks like we will be playing either at Troy or Eureka next Monday," Koskela said. "They will be playing each other later this week and that game will decide who we end up facing."

For the record, the Hawks lost the first game of a doubleheader with Loyola 12-0 in Thompson Falls Thursday before coming back to win the second 17-16 in eight innings. Against Manhattan Friday, the Hawks played well but fell 8-7.

Koskela said the second contest with Loyola was largely a junior varsity type of game, a perfect fit for a young team re-instituting a varsity program after a couple of seasons of sitting on the sidelines.

"They used their No. 2 pitcher and played some of their younger kids," Koskela said. "It was a fun game for us, we played hard and pulled out the win."

Maya Stiles led the Lady Hawks to the victory with three hits, including a double, and drove in five runs, including the winning score in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Jody Detlaff tripled and drove in three runs and Faith Frields and Kelsey Frank both hit doubles, with Frank's driving in another Lady Hawk run. Belle Cooper added two hits and Riley Wilson another.

Stephanie Radcliff drove in three runs for Loyola and Hellie Bardaruddin and Charla

Goodman two apiece.

Kayla Hickethier pitched a one-hitter in Loyola's win of the first game of the doubleheader, and Detlaff collected that base

hit.

Molly Mitko drove in five runs to lead the Loyola offense and Goodman, Hickethier and Badarunnin two each.

Against Manhattan, Cooper belted out two hits and drove in two runs, and Sarah Detlaff and Lakayla VanCampen each added an RBI. Frank hit a double and Haley Morgan and Jody Detlaff added singles to the Lady Hawks' offensive effort.

Daela Didriksen drove in three runs for the Tigers and Amy Grevious two.
