You have to get up pretty early in the morning if you are going to be part of the Over the Hill golfing gang.

Okay, you really don’t have to get up that early, but you do have to show up for the Monday mid-morning tee time with a smile on your face and enough clubs in your bag. Those are really the only prerequisites.

Showing up with smiles on and clubs in hand, this area’s famously friendly golfing league got after it again on River’s Bend this past Monday morning as 36 of Sanders County’s finest canvassed the scenic course in search of birdies and pars, but willing to accept the occasional bogey as well.

Leading the Hill folk around the Bend this time, Mike Gilmore and Lana Nolen shot the low men’s and women’s individual gross rounds of 42 and 46, while Ron Sharp shot the low men’s net with an out-of-sight 31.

In other Hill play this past sunny Monday, Buck Adams was closest to the pin in 2 on No. 1, John Mosher rolled in the long putt on No. 2, Bob Conklin knocked down the long putt on No. 3, Ray Marsall stuck in the long putts on Nos. 4 and 9, Jens Jantzen was closest to the pin off the tee on No. 5, Ron Belger blasted the long drive on No. 6 and again on No. 9, Nolen chased down the long putt on No. 6 and stroked the long ladies’ drive on No. 9, Al Luckow earned long putt honors on No. 7, and Gilmore put the long putt to bed on No. 8.

Gary Thompson made chip-in shots on Nos. 4 and 8, Bary Moore buried one on No. 4, and Gary Moe got one down on No. 3.

Thompson, Gilmore, Mosher, Moore and Mike Normandin were required to pay for pars.

Barring bad weather, the Over the Hill gang will again gather at River’s Bend next Monday morning for their appointed rounds.
