Devil boys falter against Heat

It’s all about getting to the basket and establishing a presence there. If you can get to the rim and get some shots down the rest will take care of itself.

Coach Bart Haflich’s Noxon Red Devils had trouble getting to the rim last and lost twice, 72-27 to the two-time defending State C champion Arlee Warriors in Arlee Friday, and 59-44 to the Hot Springs Savage Heat in Noxon Saturday.

Nearing the end of the regular season, the Devils will wrap it up this week hosting Plains for Noxon’s senior night. “We have no excuses,” Haflich said. “Arlee is a very good team and we lost contact with them early, and against Hot Springs we just didn’t get to the rim enough and they did.

“We still had our chances against them, closed to within three at 43-40 late,” he added, “but just could not quite get the lead.”

Alex Currie scored 10 points to lead the Devils in Arlee, Rylan Weltz added seven, Braedon Marshall five, Logan Wood three and Levi Brubaker two.
