Arrest made in Thompson Falls homicide

The Sanders County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) announced today that an arrest has been made in the May 2018 homicide of Thompson Falls resident Matt LaFriniere.

Sanders County Sheriff Tom Rummel released a statement today stating that Danielle Wood was taken into custody Wednesday morning and charged with deliberate homicide. Wood is being held on a $1 million bond, according to Sheriff Rummel. Wood and LaFriniere shared a child together.

"I would like take this opportunity to thank the Department of Justice for their assistance in this investigation," Rummel said.

On May 3, 2018, SCSO received a 911 call that an adult male had been found unresponsive at LaFriniere's home on Airport Road east of Thompson Falls. The Department of Justice

LaFriniere was an employee of the Sanders County Sheriff's Office and Empire Builders in Thompson Falls.

No further details have been released.
