Area Agency on Aging offers spring classes

April 25, 2019

The Area VI Agency on Aging is offering several different classes this spring to try and meet needs we work with every day though phone calls. We charge a nominal fee, not to make a profit but to help defray the cost of making the class available. All class fees can be offered at a reduced price on a sliding scale according to income. You can call our office to inquire about the reduced fee, the class schedule or content, or to sign up for a class.

Medicare 101 is a one-hour class designed for those approaching Medicare. We can help you with the choices available and also help avoid late penalties. Dates scheduled are as follows:

April 24 (Dixon Senior Center)

May 6 (St. Luke's, Ronan)

May 22 (Clark Fork Valley Hospital, Plains)

May 29 (Tribal Health, Polson)

June 5 (Arlee)

June 12 (St. Joseph, Polson).

All Medicare 101 classes are noon to 1 p.m. to accommodate folks on their lunch hour. The cost is $20.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is designed to help caregivers take care of themselves and deal with the stresses and challenges they face. It’s part class and part support group. The class meets for 90 minutes, once a week for six weeks. A class is scheduled for Fridays, May 3-June 7, 10-11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph in Polson. The cost is $50.

Moving for Better Balance is a modified tai chi class designed to improve balance and avoid falls in older people. The Spring session at Polson Senior Center started April 9 and will run through the end of June. It is Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10-11 a.m. Anyone interested may still join. No prior experience is necessary. The cost is $35 for senior center members and $50 for nonmembers (includes membership through September 2019).

Call Area VI Agency on Aging at (406) 883-7284 or 1-800-266-4188.
