Thompson Falls Woman's Club members Renee Kovarik (left) and Cathy Mills, with Lisa Eberhardt of Clark Fork Valley Hospital, presented pillowcases to nurses recently.

In lieu of a business meeting, the Thompson Falls Woman's Club (TFWC) held a project meeting in February to make Sausage Roll Pillowcases for their Pillowcases for Nurses project. The project was a way for the club to show appreciation to all the nurses who care for our community during Nurse Appreciation Week (May 6 thru May 12) and to participate in the GFWC MT President's C.A.R.E. about Community, Acknowledgment, Respect and Empowerment Project - Caring for those who care for us.

Several community members as well as members from the local quilt guild partnered with the TFWC in sewing pillowcases. Over the next several weeks nearly 100 pillowcases were completed. Each pillowcase was created individually with a unique fabric choice and designed specifically to show appreciation with many of the fabrics containing words of gratitude.

On May 5, Cathy Mills, TFWC President, and Renee Kovarik, TFWC Vice President, delivered 72 pillowcases to the Clark Fork Valley Hospital for distribution to the nurses who work in the local Providence Medical Network. Also, pillowcases were delivered to Main Street Medical, the Thompson Falls school nurse, and the county nurse. In addition, two retired nurses who are TFWC members were honored at the TFWC business meeting on May 6 for their many years of service in the community.

Local donations for the project were provided by The Sanders County Ledger, Wild Coyote Saloon, Full Spectrum Therapy and Whitepine Community United Methodist Church.
