Block party to raise funds for county kids

Falls Chapel is asking the community to help purchase shoes for children in Sanders County. The church in Thompson Falls, in partnership with Lion Pathfinder Inc, The Washington Foundation, and Communio is hosting a free Block Party held at Ainsworth Park. From 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, there will be a BBQ cook-off, games, free food, kids fingerprinting by the LifeGuard Group, and an opportunity to sign up your children for free shoes.

A parent or legal guardian needs to be present to sign up the child’s name, shoe size, contact person’s information, and phone number. Once the church has this information, they will contact the parent or guardian to come to Falls Chapel in two weeks to pick up the shoes for their child. This is on a first come first serve basis at the event for sign-ups because of the limited resources and legalities of grant reporting.

The Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation has granted our outreach $2,500 to purchase shoes for the children of Sanders County, and the church also has received a matching grant of $2,500. If the church reaches its financial goal, they will be able to help 214 children in Sanders County.
