Students and their families at Thompson Falls Elementary had an evening of STEAM activities Tuesday. Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math is the combined learning. "It guides students' imaginations and inquiry. It opens up discussions and problem solving that goes beyond the development of practical skills," according to the STEAM fields education website.

A variety of activities were set up at stations throughout the elementary school last Tuesday. There was also a Math scavenger hunt for kids. Penny spinners, straw rockets, and catapults combined Art, Science, Engineering and Technology strategies in their construction. The card games were creative Math learning activities.

The Student Council conducted a bake sale and the PTO had a table with candy and sign-up sheets for adults wishing to join the Parent Teacher Organization.

"The catapults are fun, but I probably shouldn't eat the marshmallow after launching it," Macoy Schoenfeldt said. Arya McGann enjoys Art the most, she said. The penny spinners allowed students to be creative in decorating their spinners. Allan McGann said he liked the science and engineering involved in making the catapults.
