Golfers get look at divisional course

Thompson Falls golfers had a chance to compete last Tuesday at the JV invite at the old nine at Polson Golf Course, hosted by Two Eagle River School. The course offered a great starter course for the new golfers. They would only finish a nine-hole round but grew and learned from the experience, said Hawk Coach Doree Thilmony. The JV golfers had another invite hosted by Deer Lodge on Thursday, where they were able to finish 15 holes. The JV golfers include Ella Johnson, Weston Block, Jaden Bewick, Jeremy Fausett, Evan Loftus, Billy Detlaff and Jakob Molina.

Varsity took to the Old Works course in Anaconda before divisionals last Thursday. For the boys, Cael Thilmony earned a stunning 89, behind him Theo Nyagaard earned a 91, Braxton Dorscher got a 113, Blake Shusterman earned a 117, and Chase Helvey got a 125. As a team the boys placed 12th with a score of 122. Solveig Nygaard led the girls with a grand 99, Sophia Chou behind with 107, Aubrey Baxter with 112, and Olivia Nacarrini with 129. The girls took fifth place with their score of 159.

Only three golfers from Plains took to the Old Works course, Brandt Snead and Drew Carey each getting 98 while Wyatt Butcher shot a 122.

The teams were back in Anaconda this week for the two-day divisional tournament. Results will be in next week's Ledger.
